Anabolic Steroids VS Corticosteroids: What You Should Know

Many are confused as to what steroids actually do. Some refer to it as medicine that has an anti-inflammatory response, which is commonly used in autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. Anabolic Steroids

Anabolic steroids, also called anabolic-androgenic steroids (AASs), are synthetic versions of the male sex hormone called Androgens. Androgens are responsible for the growth of skeletal muscles (the anabolic effect) and the development of male sexual characteristics (the androgenic effect). It is basically a man-made version of testosterone, a male sex hormone which helps in building muscles.

Anabolic steroids can be obtained with a prescription and are used to treat conditions that are characterized by abnormally low testosterone levels. This medical condition is called hypogonadism. Low testosterone levels may also be caused by undescended or injured testicles, hemochromatosis, inflammatory disease, obesity, and endocrine disorders.
